Newcastle
The club is now prioritizing signing the “magnificent” Newcastle star, and a new bid is on the way.
Newcastle United are in a fight to keep Kieran Trippier at St James’ Park.
Bayern Munich appear to be determined to sign the 33-year-old, having registered their interest in him late last week.
Over the weekend, it did look like Kieran Trippier would be heading to Germany. There were claims that he had agreed terms, although Newcastle United have been adamant that he is going nowhere.
Two offers from Bayern were rejected, and that became three on Tuesday night. Thomas Tuchel’s side proposed a deal worth £13million, which is £1million more than what the Magpies paid for him two years ago.
That offer was turned down by Newcastle United, who are determined to keep Trippier on Tyneside. However, it also looks like Bayern Munich are determined to bring him to Germany.
Bayern Munich plan to make another Kieran Trippier bid
According to the Times, Bayern Munich are expected to make a fourth offer to sign Trippier during the January transfer window.
The report claims that Bayern now view the right-back as a priority signing, as they look to reunite him with Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
The Times add that Trippier’s head has been turned by Bayern’s interest, but that he has also told Newcastle that he is happy to remain on Tyneside.
Nervy end to the window for Newcastle United
It looks like we have not heard the last of this one, and it might come to a stage when Bayern make an offer that is simply too good to refuse.
The next one has to be, otherwise there is no way that Newcastle will sell. If they can get closer to £20million then it would be a no-brainer for the Magpies. While seeing Trippier leave would be very sad, it would be tough to turn down that much money for a 33-year-old whose contract expires in 2025.
But Newcastle appear to be fighting to keep Trippier, and that is no surprise. He has been truly transformative since arriving in 2022, and has been a key player for Eddie Howe ever since he walked through the door.
We would not be where we are right now without the ‘magnificent‘ Kieran Trippier, but there are no guarantees that he continues to wear black and white. Bayern now see signing him as a priority, setting Toon fans up for a very nervy end to the January transfer window.
