last-minute moves to sign the 28-year-old Tottenham midfielder
Multiple clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before the transfer window shuts this month.
The Dane’s future has been up in the air for a while, and he has been linked with moves to a number of clubs over the last few months. Now, the Tottenham midfielder is said to be a target for several sides in the Saudi Pro League.
Multiple Saudi clubs want to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was always one of the first names on the Tottenham team sheet when Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho were at the helm.
The Dane was often a consistent performer and was viewed as one of the leaders at the club.
However, following Ange Postecoglou‘s arrival in the summer, it became very clear that Hojbjerg would no longer be a regular starter at Spurs.
As a result, the 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham, and TeamTalk now claim that multiple clubs in Saudi Arabia are eyeing last-minute moves to sign him.
It has been claimed that Daniel Levy has been searching for potential buyers for Hojbjerg, and Saudi clubs have no problem meeting Tottenham’s reported £20 million asking price.
The report further claims that Hojbjerg, who has entered the final 18 months of his contract, is open to a move away from Tottenham this month.
Tottenham are short of options in midfield
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is not someone Ange Postecoglou turns to at Tottenham, but he could be needed as an emergency option.
Spurs are without both Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as they’re away on international duty at AFCON. That leaves them with just Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp in the middle of the park – apart from Hojbjerg, of course.
If Tottenham do sell the Dane, they will have just two options available in central midfield until their African duo returns to North London.
That may be a bit of a risk, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea at all for Spurs to keep hold of Hojbjerg until the end of the season.
